The Duster was a complete restoration, from top to bottom. The restoration process took a little less than two years to complete. This restoration was not a customer car, but a project completed by R&R to be sold upon completion. Every part of the car was cleaned, polished, or painted back to it’s glory days. It has been restored with some modern aesthetic upgrades. It was painted the same factory color of Rally Red with black side stripes. It has the original 225 slant six factory engine that has been rebuilt and has a 2-barrel Super Six carburetor and intake manifold, Competition camshaft, and Clifford Research headers. The 904 transmission is also original to the car and has been rebuilt with a new torque convertor and shift kit. The front and rear suspensions have been rebuilt, including the ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, and a new steering gear box. All of the components were sand blasted, epoxy primed, and painted. New front and rear brakes were installed as well as all of the brake components. New leaf spring bushings and shackles were also added. The old gas tank and sender were replaced as well. New fiberglass bumpers were added in place of the originals. The exterior was completed with new wheels, rings, center caps, and Goodrich Radial T/A 225/60/15 tires.
On the inside of the car, completely new upholstery was installed, including the bucket seats, carpet, headliner, and door panels. New white gauge faces were added and the wood grain dash was treated with a carbon fiber overlay, as was the console to match. The back seat folds down for more storage space. The stereo was upgraded and hidden in the glove compartment, with the original stereo still in place acting as the on/off switch. The stereo is then controlled with a wireless remote. The car has heating and air conditioning, cruise control, power steering, power brakes, automatic transmission, and a floor shifter.
